Review:

I recently learned that some people would rather have me post music without saying anything because apparently I am a hater and dislike almost everything I post. If you are one of these people, you may want to stop reading NOW.

Having listened to Eddi P’s previous solo, “Now Or Never” I wasn’t expecting to like this follow up album very much. He has a unique voice, and unlike other local rappers who do not sound like anyone else, Eddie P’s annoys me. This could have easily been overlooked if he had amazing lyrics, but he generally sticks to the typical topics of drugs, guns, money & hoes. I do like his flow, and after listening to this album over the past couple of weeks, several songs did grow on me.

The album starts out with Eddi Projex threatening to put his haters in a coffin on What’s Hannen’. This is followed by Cocaine Cowboys, one of the highlights on the album. A hook that will be stuck in your head makes up for the played out coke kingpin lyrics. The Payroll has Eddi Projex and his boys bragging about how savage they are. Playa Playa has a pair of nice verses from Eddi Projex but a boring beat and annoying hook. The beat on On Site will have you nodding your head and provides a nice background for Eddi’s hard rhymes.

I’m From Oakland is a nice anthem for The Town. Shine At Night features the Bay’s version of T-Pain/Akon/Nate Dogg, but it’s probably not catchy enough to be a hit. Eddi Projex does a nice job of telling a story on Rock Sellin’ instead of just bragging. Get At Me has a nasty beat, but 3 unimpressive verses. The next track, Ghetto Celeb, is pretty clean.

No Stopping Us has Eddi Projex outshine his guests on a decent track. All Black has a vicious beat and hook and features the trash talking rhymes present throughout the album. Next is an unnecessary skit followed by Basic, a track that women can shake their asses to. Keep It Movin’ has a mobbish beat and sounds like a Bay Area track from the 90′s. Money And Dope features another nice sounding hook from Eddi P, but nothing interesting when it comes to the lyrics. The next two tracks are remixes to tracks from his last solo. The album finishes strong with I’m A Hustla featuring Glasses Malone.

If you’re already a fan of Eddi Projex, you’ll probably enjoy this album. However, there isn’t anything on this album that will get him many new fans. Outside a few hot beats and hooks and just couple of nice verses, this album is forgettable.
