Review:

This Jacka/Laroo collaboration is one that I have been looking forward to hearing since it was first announced. With The Jacka appearing on each of Laroo’s last three solo albums, and with the success of 20 Bricks, it wasn’t a big surprise to see these two rappers release an entire project together. This album features street content with several tracks for the clubs/ladies mixed in.

Pros: Mostly solid production, real collaboration album with Jacka & Laroo on every track, some nice verses.

Cons: The album is too short with only 12 tracks including 5 that are under 3 minutes long, most features were unimpressive.

The main thing that kept me from fully getting into the album is it’s length. Three of my favorite tracks end less than two and a half minutes after they begin. Tracks 1, 4, and 9 could have benefited from an additional verse or two, but I probably shouldn’t expect too much since this is just a side project for the two artists. Also, with only 12 tracks I don’t feel like I should have to press the skip button as often as I did on this album, but the good tracks are really good. Another thing I noticed is that Laroo and Matt Blaque continue to sound good on tracks together. I would rather hear a Matt Blaque album with Laroo than the one Matt Blaque has coming out later this year with Guce.

Quote from A Hustler by The Jacka:

Used to muscular, now he’s a customer
Got it through customs now, look how rich I’ve become
I was in love before, now I don’t love no one
I was too young to know, what would the world become
What would your girl become, if she exposed to me
Used to just fuck for free, now she get dough for me
Never was sober, now on my way overseas
Got so much paper you, can’t get a hold of me
Suckers be flashy so, you won’t notice me
I’m just a hustler, but the game from older Gs
Wouldn’t be nothin if wasn’t for boats of E
Coke and kush, and your ho selling puss for me

Overall Rating: 3.5/5
