MATT BLAQUE KICKS OFF SUMMER WITH A SHOT OF TEQUILA
Oakland, CA 7/6/2010- Singer/songwriter phenom Matt Blaque has released his debut single, “Tequila,” from his forthcoming album. The single pays homage to the rich Latin culture that is infused into California and much of the US.
Summoning images of dusty, packed Tijuana bars and bright Miami night-clubs, the record takes the listener on a raucous, liquor-filled night on the town. Matt’s driving harmonies and numerous references to top-shelf brands of his favorite Mexican spirit fuel this energy-filled romp. Joined by his frequent collaborator The Jacka, the duo’s chemistry is undeniable. The Jacka weaves in and out of his verse, sprinkling in Spanish and ratcheting up the intensity of the song with each line. This record pushes the envelope between multiple genres and cultures in a dynamic and sonically provocative way.
Matt Blaque is a quickly rising star in the R&B world. Featured prominently on 2009′s “All Over Me,” by The Jacka, and “Put Me On,” by Laroo, Matt’s syrupy hooks elevate singles into sure-fire radio smashes. Including these two songs, Matt’s vocals have been in regular rotation on a number of singles on 106KMEL, (one of the largest market radio stations in the US.) Largely because of this, he’s become the go-to artist in Northern California for anyone looking to release a record with commercial/radio appeal. His hooks have graced the albums of virtualy every successful Northern California artist; E-40, Mistah FAB, Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, The Jacka, San Quinn, Killa Tay, Cozmo, and Guce- just to name a few.
Part of what makes Matt unique is his ability to appeal to fans of multiple genres. The R&B fans love him; the Rap fans love him. He steps back and forth from Urban to Pop and cant be pigeon holed into a specific sound. His music literally transcends the genres. Over the past 2 years, Matt Blaque has developed a cult-like following in Northern California. His fan base is a fiercely loyal group that supports anything hes musically involved with. His commitment back to them is evident in the quality of his craft and his Tupac-like work ethic. Matt is constantly recording and performing, writing and innovating.
Matts sophomore album, Blaque Out, is scheduled to be released 4th quarter 2010. Without question, the record features some of Matts best work and collaborations to date. With a devoted, rapidly growing fanbase eagerly anticipating his music, a slew of established artists clammoring for his vocals and songwriting, and a focused team guiding his career, the future is incredibly bright for this innovative artist and songwriter.
